House 3 | The Family Room

September 7, 2016

How's everyone's short work week going? It's taken me an extra day to get back in the office because we had a baby appointment yesterday and Emery has a runny nose so she's been extra clingy. We didn't do much for the holiday but a small BBQ with Andrew's family at our place. We did host draft night Saturday too so we've been good breaking in the new house with entertaining! ;)

Speaking of... I wanted to share our family room/kitchen space now that things are getting back to normal without the moving and settling chaos. We did things really similar to our old family room but I opted for a new, more calm rug from Rugs USA (in grey). I loved our bright teal one but having this space, the kitchen and dining room all right next to each other, I thought going lighter and brighter with rugs was a better avenue this time around.

The whole room is lined in big windows so the light factor has been so stunning. I love coming down in the mornings to the room lit up and even more so in the evening when the sun set is our backyard and the focal of our family room with the curtains open. The yard itself has the sweetest little playhouse and we're going to be extending the grass much further out and adding an in ground trampoline for the kids so I can hardly wait for cooler temps to really enjoy that extension of the kitchen and family room!
