Staying Inspired

September 30, 2014

I've been pulling things here and there to perfectly curate a little area of the house to call mine again. After switching my old office to the babes nursery and then working this space into one shared with my husband, it's been a challenge for it to become something soft and serene yet inspirational and motivating.

I think I've found the perfect combo of feminine and neutral and love the way all the little sayings and such pop. Whitney of Heart & Arrow sent me over these darling prints inspired by Queen B herself and Swifty- two of my favorite ladies! I have so enjoyed walking into this little corner of mine each and everyday seeing that sass over my head while enjoying my coffee! Whitney is a business owner as well so she knows what it's like needing that oompf to keep you going- feel free to shop Heart & Arrow prints, here!

36 Weeks

September 29, 2014

leggings & tunic: The Tickled Pink Boutique

We are officially there people! 36 weeks and my doctor will deliver baby girl if she's decides to come any day now. Andrew and I are praying as are a lot of our friends and family that she comes very soon versus closer to her actual due date so if you don't mind as well, we would love that!

Some things have definitely changed over the last week/weekend and it all points to my body getting ready to her big appearance.

+ Andrew and I went to Costco yesterday and I could barely make it through the store. I kept getting so much pressure and spasms in my pelvic area and it was painful! I was in tears and crying but I'm assuming that means she's getting lower.

+ I haven't had super tender boobs since the first trimester and suddenly the water in the shower makes me scream. I'm also leaking a whole lot more so I've been wearing nursing pads so it doesn't go through to my shirts.

+ I have a theory this means she's dropping. I only have a couple stretch marks that are tiny on my hips and overnight I had large, deep, painful ones just below my belly button. Keep dropping baby girl!

+ Still slowly coming out.

+ Whew- that is no joke! I've been reading about labor more and more and I've heard you can even get your contractions in your back? Who knew! I'm assuming that might be it but nothing worth timing.

+ Only a couple times and hour during the day after I've done something strenuous so it's not serious although they're painful. I'm praying this week they get to where I can at least get excited about them getting worse and closer together.

+ ALL THE TIME. Like a period but on steroids.

As for the family of mine, we're all on pins and needles!

This morning laying in bed, Andrew mentioned how excited he is that in just a few weeks we will be home with Emery snuggled with us and how he can't wait to hold her all the time. It melts my heart hearing him express his excitement for meeting her and finally being a daddy to a daughter.

He is dying her his sister to make her debut on his birthday, October 13th! I keep telling him, I will do my best but who knows. He picked out a special book this week for her and wrote her a letter and plans on giving/reading it to her when he meets her in the hospital. We have her car seat installed and every time I get him from school he comments on how he can't wait to reach over and hold her little hands when she's here.

This dog! He will not leave my side. He's always been a clingy type but lately he follows me even into the bathroom or when I shower and starts whining when I leave him. He is attached and I feel like it just has to do with him knowing things are about to change.

I have 2 full weeks of work left that I need to complete before she arrives but in case she does come, I have an auto reply set up and ready to post. I am crossing my fingers if that happens, my clients will understand and respect the sudden MIA vibes they'll be getting. I hope to take about 6 weeks off when she comes!

So here we are., playing the waiting game. I'm not one to be patient and like to wait but I keep telling myself even if she doesn't come before her due date, we only have 28 days until we meet her. Maybe 29 if they induce the day after her due date. I can do it.

Weekend Wear

September 27, 2014

leggings: BLANQI | tank: H&M | cardigan: Motherhood Maternity | sneaks: Nike | sunnies: Ray-Ban

Just stopping in for a quick weekend post! I am taking it easy still but I wanted to sneak out of the house for just a couple hours today for breakfast with a friend and a quick Ulta stop. I'm all about staying comfy so I had to pull out my BLANQI leggings,,., again (!!) and paired them with a deliciously soft cardigan from Motherhood Maternity!

Hope you have a fun and safe weekend- xo!

My Hospital Bag

September 24, 2014

Bed rest is not ideal, you guys. I've found that even working from home and being on a computer all day is something that's not really allowed for an extended period of time so it's been interesting working through all my last clients before I start my official maternity leave! It has given me the opportunity to check and recheck my hospital list so I wanted to share everything I've packed along with some splurges to make the experience a little more calming and peaceful!

-tank tops
-oversized cardigan
....whatever will make you comfortable and easy to nurse in
-button up would be good for nursing
  • PANTIES (4-5 pair and ones you don't mind ruining)
  • NURSING BRAS (I am bringing one and 2 bralettes)
  • SOCKS (2-3 pair)
-tooth brush & paste
-face wash
-shampoo & conditioner
-hair brush & ties
-body lotion
These are the basics, obviously! Something I recommend having no matter what because either you'll really need them or the hospital might supply them but they aren't ideal. When it comes to an extended stay away from home, I want to be as comfortable as possible so if that means you bringing your own goodies, do so! You know what will make you happy and less stressed so take the time to think through if any and all of these items are something you'll require as every person is different.

*** Don't forget your honey will need all their goodies as well so pack one bag together or one for each of you. Andrew and I always share a bag and I went ahead and made him a little "daddy survival kit" with his favorite snacks and things to keep him busy if labor is long and uneventful.

-I'm bringing peppermint for my migraines & for nausea
-I loved creating this and will share soon!
-This only applies if you'll have visitors which Andrew and I don't plan to have anyone but family so I thought when they did come by, they could sign a "guest book" and leave a little love letter to Emery.
-bb cream
-mascara (waterproof)

Now these items come down to what will make your stay more peaceful and like home. Again, labor could be something very easy and quick or it can be an experience that is chaotic, long and hard so I want to be prepared for either scenario. That being said, these items just seem like a good buffer for if there's a lot of down time and I need to get my mind off contractions or simply making me more comfortable while staying away from home.

On the same note with splurging, I decided to get a new bag for our time there to lug everything in. I wanted to have a little treat and something to get excited about when we were whisked (haha- I'm sure it'll be quite dramatic) away about to welcome our angel baby so I chose to get a fabulous black leather duffle bag and a new toiletry carrier from Hudson and Bleecker. With all these little items I was packing, I knew I needed something simple yet functional so I wasn't going through ziploc after ziploc looking for deodorant. That being said, my new case from Hudson and Bleecker is perfection. First off, it's a lovely snake print which I'm obsessed over and carries two clear storage bags inside and one smaller printed zipper pouch. I was able to contain all my toiletries, along with some of my splurge items into this little unit with room to spare. Talk about perfect for packing! Once I'm done using it for the hospital stay, I plan to use the clear bags for our diaper bag and the smaller pouch for a card/key holder for my personal things to also throw in Emery's diaper bag.

I know being a first time mom, this could be an outrageous list but I was really trying to be prepared and feel this is what will work for Andrew and I. If I missed something, please let me know and I'll make sure to pack it away for our delivery day!

Fall Neutrals

September 23, 2014

top (use code AUBREY for 10% off!): The Tickled Pink Boutique | sequin pants: Riffraff | bag (option): H&M | heels (these would be so fun!): Target | sunnies: Ray-Ban

SEQUIN PANTS and OLIVE GREEN? Man, I am loving that fall is right around the corner and this combo is acceptable for the next few months! I just love all things sparkly and olive is such a great neutral to pair with really anything so I'm beyond ecstatic... if you couldn't tell! Make sure to snag this lovely tunic from The Tickled Pink Boutique- it's even long enough to cover the bum with leggings and boots!

And if you're feeling feisty, these heels would be FAB with this outfit!

Still Cooking

September 22, 2014

skirt (similar): Motherhood Maternity | top (option): Forever 21 | heels (option): Marshalls | clutch: Clare Vivier | sunnies: Ray-Ban | watch: Fossil | necklace: Miaearrings

You are all so sweet with your comments on yesterday's post. I had an appt this morning and it proved me right that miss thing might just be stubborn and sassy already. I'm not dilating and my blood pressure is much lower (normal now versus high) so all my doctor's concerns are dwindling. She did say to stick to bed rest and laying low over this next week so I don't push her along but she then started talking about how induction works after 41 weeks. All that being said, I'm not going to stress about it as I'm sure she won't come this week so she will make her debut when she's ready!

Onto this skirt! It's starting to slightly cool in AZ and when I say cool, I mean it's now in the low 100's versus the teens so I'm not hugely sweaty when I'm out and about. I felt it a good opportunity to make a summer/fall transition in my look this weekend and this pencil skirt from Motherhood Maternity paired with a light sweater did just the trick!

September 21, 2014

It's been a crazy weekend starting with a moment of "OMG, she's coming!" on Friday night around 11pm. I started having serious contractions averaging about 9-11 minutes apart until 5am Saturday. After a night of severe anxiety and tears, I called the on-call nurse at my OB and they stated it was false labor and I needed to take this next week easy, resting as much as possible because we don't want to deliver until 36 weeks. So here we are, needing to make it one more week but will happily welcome Emery anytime after that! I have a feeling since she faked us out, she's going to stay put for a while now- we all chatted about our predictions so we will see!

Saturday was also my to-be sister's bridal shower so I did attend and to my surprise my Gam Gam flew it to surprise everyone! As if I wasn't already a mess from the night before, I lost it seeing her. She's the best and hugs from her make my heart so warm. I was so thankful for her and my mama at the shower making sure I was okay and attended to.

All in all, I'm getting so so excited about meeting Emery but it added a sense of really needing to knock out some work this coming week! I want to have as much in place as possible so I don't have to worry about work while enjoying the first few weeks of mommyhood. Also, we're creating our hospital / labor playlist so suggestions are appreciated! I'm thinking along the lines of The Fray, Hillsong United, Need To Breathe, John Mayer...etc- please leave ideas below! xo

Baby Update

September 19, 2014

We are so close you guys! It's been such a process of feeling like we've been pregnant forever but also like it flew by and I feel like these last weeks are just dragging. It's the total cliche thing to say but truly, I get it now. We've been keeping busy with family in town and other events and plans to get our mind off all things baby which helps, but she's always there, you know?

As we're crossing things off our list, I thought it wise to document where we are because we really are all set and ready for her to come any time now! The remaining things uncrossed here are all in place and ready to go as well but we needed to schedule them as close to her potential due date (October 27) as possible. Speaking of due date, that's exactly 37 days away! Eeep. My doctor will gladly deliver and welcome labor after September 30th so I'm definitely praying she wants to make her debut sooner than later. Selfishly, we have things happening the first week of November that are needing me functioning so with that said, I wouldn't hate her coming sooner. ;)

As for an update with me, I'm feeling a lot of pain and aches all throughout my body but mainly in my pelvis and lower back. She's sitting head down as of Wednesday and is moving like crazy daily! I've started losing my plug (TMI) which could mean nothing or something and at my last visit my blood pressure was high so I'm now on weekly appointments until her due date. I had a cervical exam on Wednesday and I'm currently closed without dilation, as well. I'm beginning to take evening primrose oil (pills) to help soften my cervix and I planned the prenatal massage because I've heard it can also help start labor naturally. With all that to say, I won't do anything else to help push her along quicker because I want her to come when she's ready and healthy but a bit of the natural things can't hurt, right?

Okay, enough rambling. I'll be back at the doctor Monday so if anything changes, I'll update! I also plan on sharing what I've packed for my hospital bag as well as her baby book I'm making in the next few weeks along with her nursery reveal and my baby shower! Stay tuned.... have a safe and fun weekend! xo

Distressed Tee

September 17, 2014

leggings: BLANQI | tee: The Tickled Pink Boutique (use code AUBREY for 10% off & free shipping) | jean jacket: Target | bag (similar option & a Pashli look-a-like!): H&M | watch: Fossil | flats (save + splurge): Lulu's

Last week, I ordered this top from The Tickled Pink Boutique thinking it might pair well with my trusty BLANQI leggings for the remaining part of my pregnancy but really thinking I would love it more with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a blazer post pregnancy. When it arrived, I tried it on and refused to take it off. Talk about so soft, forgiving, comfortable, perfect length... I could go on! The subtle distressed looking paired with the charcoal color, man it works! I have been wearing it all the time with leggings now and even as a top for around the house when it's sweltering (confession time) because it covers my booty and is a perfect "lounge" top on it's own. I must encourage you to snag one, here!

In a couple hours we're off to another baby appt and I'm so relieved it's time for on. Last week after having those contractions and such I've become so much more achy and in pain in the "nether regions" so I have a feeling baby lady is dropping for her big debut. We're just over 34 weeks so it's about that time but I want to see if my doctor will do a cervical exam today versus at 36 weeks to ease my mind. Wish us luck!

Nude Lips

September 16, 2014

Hello loves! It's no secret I am a lover of a nude lip (seen here & here) and as much as I try to attempt deep, bold colors, it's just not something I'm used to and I don't feel too much like myself. That being said, I get so many questions on what my favorite nudes are so here is a collection of my favorites as of right now for you to snag all ranging in price! My most favorite is Maybelline because I feel it's super creamy and doesn't dry out my lips and the color is a great summer and fall nude. Hope this helps! And don't miss my beginners guide to nude lipstick, here!

Leather Details

September 15, 2014

leggings: Forever 21 | top (option): Destination Maternity | booties: Target | bag: H&M | sunnies: Ray-Ban

I am doing all that I can to be creative in the dressing the bump zone and I feel it's becoming so limited. I tried a pair of jeans the other day and quickly realized it's leggings from here on out. Whether it's faux leather like these or my favorite BLANQI ones, that's all she wrote, friends.

As for this top? Well, it will be worn all throughout the cooler months here in AZ because naturally, it's leopard and I'm a sucker for that with my neutral. Destination Maternity did fabulous with this one, I tell ya!

Week End

September 12, 2014

Remember how I said I felt a little crazy for getting things ready so soon for baby girl? Well last night I experienced some contractions for about 3 hours starting at 18 mins apart increasing to 12 and then they stopped. I'm totally fine now, not hurting or feeling a thing but I've been having a lot of Braxton Hicks lately too. This just assures me I can't be too prepared for her arrival. Just saying!

I also realized last night that every weekend until Emery is due, we have something planned and going on. I have to say I'm a little bummed and a little encouraged by this. On one hand, Andrew and I don't have a lot of just time for us anymore but it also keeps us busy so I'm distracted from the countdown. You win some, you lose some- right?

On a similar note, I've had an overwhelming sense of love for my husband lately. We are celebrating 5 years together in a couple weeks and we talked about how things were when we started dating to how they are now and it's so fun seeing how our life has evolved together. He's been so kind to me, rubbing my feet and being so attentive the last few weeks and I'm just cherishing that man. He has a heart of gold and I never want to take him for granted.

Old Navy Purchases

September 11, 2014

I went a little crazy at Old Navy not too long ago and wanted to share some of my purchases. I was thinking all things Fall (evidently) and thought how versatile each item is I snagged so I wanted to share here for you babes! They're also having an online only sale today of 25% off using code "SAVEMORE".... happy shopping!

Getting Ready

September 10, 2014

jeans: Gap | top: Destination Maternity | heels: Target | bag (similar styleanother option): H&M | watch: Fossil | sunnies: Ray-Ban

Yesterday I spent some time finalizing nursery details and getting some miscellaneous things accomplished that are baby related. I ended up moving her bassinet into our master bedroom and in place by the bed and then Andrew and I installed the monitor and finished painting her book shelves. I am patiently (....not so patiently) waiting for her Maxi Cosi car seat to arrive as her Quinny stroller did a couple weeks ago and I just want to get it installed in the car.

We have just over 2 weeks until we're full term and I'm wanting to be 100% ready to go at that time. I have yet to get the hospital bag packed but that's on my weekend list and I have my breastfeeding class Saturday. Am I totally crazy for doing all this so early or is it smart? Knowing how badly I want her arriving earlier just makes me think she will come after her due date.... hmpf.

Under Water

September 9, 2014

leggings: BLANQI | piko tunic: The Tickled Pink Boutique | fur hooded vest (SO SOFT): The Tickled Pink Boutique | flats (similar): Lulu's | bag (similar): H&M | necklace: ILY Couture

Well if you watch the news, you have seen that Arizona is practically under water due to a huge storm yesterday that's still working it's way out today. Our freeways are lakes and schools and businesses even had to close. It's the worst rain we've had in 100 years leaving houses flooded and cars floating down streets. Never did I think I'd live through something like this and I'm thankful our personal neighborhood got the least of the rain. It did drop our normal 100+ temps to the 80's for a good 12 hours so I broke out my new vest from The Tickled Pink Boutique for a few errands and can't get over how cozy it is! I feel like with the bump continually stretching (who knew that a tummy could expand so much!) I'll be living in looks like this from here on out. BLANQI leggings which I'm rightfully obsessed with and some basics for the top. Will that be okay with you all? ;)
