I've been brainstorming ways to make Drake's new room in our home a patriotic feel but not in a way red, white and blue threw up all over his walls and bedding and decor. You feel me? I want to create this next room as a space he can love now but also grow with over time and into his teen years. Essentially, something he will be proud of and I don't think I can achieve that any better than with a patriotic room.
I'm probably going to use his current white and gray bedding, black headboard and simple white curtains. Just up the ante with a bold American flag and a globe maybe? He's really into mood lighting too when we're outside on the patio so I might even throw in some mason jar lighting as a chandelier.
What do you think? Suggestions? I'm all about inspiration so please, do share!
I think olive green can also add some contrast but still goes great with the American theme. "American" always brings military to mind for me, so throw in some vintage olive and tans and maybe some cool framed historical items. My dad has a really old letter his grandfather wrote to home during the war, and something like that in a beautiful frame with a black and white picture is gorgeous in an American themed room. Love your style- I know it'll turn out gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a map too on another wall. And, like Ashley said some antique items like a chest (similar to the one pictured maybe?) and distressed wood pieces. Look on pinterest for 'American flag wooden wall art". Doing that could give it a great look as well. It will be such a cool room! I can't wait to see it when it's all done.
