I did it! I recently had my eyebrows microbladed and I'm so happy I did. I've never had the whole filling in my eyebrows down and it was the one thing I dreaded daily doing my makeup. What if I filled them in too big or dark? Or they didn't match or looked super powder-y? It seriously gave me anxiety! I've been hearing all about microblading lately so I found a local AZ gal, Amanda from High Brow and she just made my life so much easier.

I shared about it on snapchat when it was first done and everyone was messaging me questions so I opened it up on instagram to a Q&A style post and seems like a lot of you have questions but are interested in getting it done, too. So let's go through and answer them all so you can go into it a bit more knowledgeable and know what to expect...

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Amanda charges $400 for the procedure which includes a touch up 6-8 weeks from the initial application. If you choose to have a third session, which isn't common, it's $60.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCESS?
From the point I walked in to the time I left, it was about 2.5 hours. It included a consultation and the procedure.

WHAT'S THE HEALING TIME?
It's 10 days and not a day before! Amanda kept saying how crucial it was to keep them free of water and sweat for those first 10 days as they're setting into the skin with the pigment.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Depending on how you care for them it can range from 2-3 years before you would want to have it done again.

DOES IT HURT?
Hmmm, numbing cream is applied and let's just say it's your bestie! ;) It feels like scraping/tugging a bit but there are a couple areas that aren't very pleasant. BUT it's worth it!

HOW OFTEN IS MAINTENANCE TYPICALLY REQUIRED?
You'll want to get the touch up done 6-8 weeks after the initial application but thereafter, you won't need to get them redone for a couple years. Again, this all depends on how you care for them and how they hold up.

HOW MUCH ARE TOUCH UPS?
The touch up was included for Amanda's up front cost of $400 but if you feel you want a third session to really make them bold and thick, it's an additional $60.

CAN AMANDA DO IT IN ONE SITTING?
Yes! I live over an hour from her and I asked if we could do the consult and the application all in one sitting because of the drive and she does it that way with all her clients!

HOW DID YOU DECIDE WHICH SHAPE WOULD BE BEST?
When I first arrived, we looks over my brows and what shape they were currently in which she said was really great to begin with but from there, she measures out the distance between my brows, the angle my peak starts at from my nose and where the tail stops from my nose. Those points are where she marks as basic spots and then she draws the outline. After it's all drawn out, we look it over and see if we want to tweak or adjust anything.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIFICS I NEED TO LOOK FOR WHEN SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE IN MY AREA?
They'll definitely need to be certified in microblading and I would say find someone where the before/afters really stand out and make you want it more! I've seen work done that just doesn't look natural and in that case, I wouldn't want them touching my brows.

CAN YOU GET THIS DONE WHILE NURSING?
It's recommended not to but it's not crucial to steer clear either. I would use your best judgment here... just like with caffeine and alcohol while nursing too! It's not a tattoo though so if I were still nursing, I would have done it regardless. ;)

WHAT ARE THE STEPS OF APPLICATION?
1. The eyebrows are assessed, measured and drawn on with a pencil then any tweaking is done. 2. numbing cream is applied (and all throughout the process) and the color is matched. She has a range of color tones and swatches them on your forehead next to your brow to see which matches best. 3. The microblading is done. 4. More pigment is applied all over the brow for a few minutes to soak into the strokes that were created to ensure color stay. 5. Everything is wiped off and voila! You're a new woman!

WILL THEY FADE OVER TIME?
Yes. From the point of them being done, they will seem SO dark and even a bit unnatural but as they heal they will fade so don't be scared!

WOULD YOU DO IT AGAIN?
Absolutely! It's so worth it.

Talk about a huge difference, huh? Brows totally shape your face and give you a different look just being a touch thicker and darker. I am in love! If you're in the valley, definitely give Amanda a call and book your appointment- I mean, Valentine's Day is right around the corner...! :)
