A couple months ago we purchased a juicer, this one here and it's been amazing for us. Andrew grew up juicing and has his favorite recipe and I've never done it but was excited to try it. I'm normally a green smoothie kind of gal but juicing has been just as great for me and I personally think it takes a lot better! I've been able to customize the flavor to my liking and I know I'm getting great nutrients for my day.
We are going to Mexico mid June and both have been on the journey to shedding pounds here and there focusing on what we eat and attempting to be more active. So we've decided for the next couple weeks until we go, we're going to simply juice and that's it. I've heard of quite a few people doing this and they tend to lose the weight pretty easily and quickly but I guess I'm just concerned we're going to be depriving our bodies of necessities. I've considered adding in a few salads for dinners so I'm not going to bed hungry but we will see.
Either way, I'm excited about it and I can't complain because it's a delish "meal". Cross your fingers we make some kind of transformation in our time doing this.
favorite recipe:
5 carrots
3 oranges, peeled
1 stick celery
8-10 cubed pineapple
I want a juicer!!
ReplyDeletei'm excited to hear what you think! i'm doing a 3 day juice cleanse next week, and am already thinking i'll need to add salads, etc! i feel like that's not cheating right? i mean, it's lettuce! ha. good luck!
ReplyDeleteI've thought of doing this also. Can't wait to hear your thoughts and results.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead - it's an amazing story of a man, plagued by sickness and huge medication bills that decided to go on a juice fast for many, many weeks (I want to say three months)... he kicked all his bad food habits, and he lost tons of weight, and got off all his medication AND helped others along the way. It's SO inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI want a juicer so bad - I think that it's a great way to get all your nutrients. (He also discusses how to ensure you get all that you need in the juice alone that you won't HAVE to have solid foods but I think even supplementing the juice for a few meals and then eating a sensible dinner will do the trick.
I can't wait to hear about your trip and your juicing journey!
I've been wanting to try juicing FOREVER!

YES!! Thank you for this post!!!! I am trying to decide which juicer to buy. Is prep time easy? Is it easy to clean?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how this goes, I've always wanted to try juicing!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I have a girlfriend who uses the pulp for tons of things- breads etc- to hide it from her kids. There is still tons of nutrients in the "mess"!
ReplyDeletegood luck! I've heard good things about juicing but I would be worried i'd be starving :)

ReplyDeleteI love juicing! It is so wonderful! I am curious what your favorite green smoothies are?! I'm needing to switch it up over here! :)
ReplyDeleteYou've just inspired me to buy my own juicer!! Hopefully you will share some more recipes.
ReplyDeleteHi, Aubrey! How're you doing? I think a couple of weeks to be on juicing diet is quite much for beginners. As you said, you need to start small but add some proteins to your strategy, either to the juices (powders) or in form of meals. You cannot be only on juicing for couple of weeks, it's not good for your health. I think it good to drink fresh juices in the morning and evening, but eat your lunch full of proteins and vegetables. Also try to combine more veggies, say 70% and 30% fruits in juices.
