Chambray + Chiffon
I'm slowly running out of ways to stay cool already this summer. It's consistently in the 120's lately and it's legitimately an oven. I dread getting in the car for anything and my grocery shopping and errand running has now taken over my early mornings and late evenings. I've also come to terms with my hair needing to be off my neck at all times or else I'll look like a drowning lion from sweat. Talk about sexy, people. So sexy.

Better Sleep: Solved
Maybe solved might not be the best way to describe this because it may not work for you but hey, it works for me and that makes me happy! I used to sleep soundly when I was growing up I think due to dancing all the time and school being completely exhausting. Now that I've "grown up" (stupid adulthood!) I seem to have trouble a) winding down for the night and b) actually sleeping.
I'm envious of my husband cause once he's on the couch in front of the TV for an hour before bed, his mind has turned work off and he's already getting into his "down time" needed before hitting the sheets. I, however, sit on the couch, still going through emails, planning my next day, thinking about what I should wear, considering how I should promote my next post, going through social media feeds, catching up on the house "to-do" list....blah blah blah. I think you get the point. It was months of sleepless nights with the days following with migraines due to lack of sleep so I finally broke down and purchased sleepy tea. Literally, it's called sleepy tea and I buy it at Sprouts. This stuff changed my life. From there I threw in a couple other elements and since I've been sleeping much more soundly. Let's review, shall we?
one // Soft Hair Ties: Since my hair has been starting to grow a bit, it's now a nuisance when I toss and turn at night. I've purchased some of the infamous Anthro hair ties to pull it back, which one, gives me a better night's sleep and two, doesn't pull as tight as the standard high tie leaving my hair without a crease! Perfect for styling the next day.
two // Lavender Lotion: It's really true, lavender does help soothe and calm bringing a sense of tiredness over your body so I've pulled in some lotion to my nightly routine and sometimes I even use Johnson & Johnson's Night Time Baby Lotion. Trust me, it works!
three // Pillowcase: Invest in a soft pillowcase. When we first got married we purchased 2 sets of sheets from IKEA because they were $30 and the perfect gray but they are terrible when it comes to comfort. I since then I have bought a few sets from Target and only buy 500 or more thread count or organic cotton and it's made the world of difference with comfort. On the same note, get a pillow that you love lounging with. Hubs likes his big and fluffy, I like mine thin and hard. Find what speaks to you and get it!
four // Face Regimen: Each night, I like to take 15-20 minutes pampering myself. I get my jammies on, snag the lavender lotion and dive into a small window of time washing my face, doing a light microderm a few times a week, adding eye cream and night time moisturizer. I used to skip and sleep with make up on a lot because I was so.over.the.day. but learned taking the time is not only better for my skin but better for my sleep because I've washed away the day's work, built a fresh canvas and prepped it for some z's.
five // Sleepy Tea: I said it above but I'll say it again, get some. I like vanilla and I add a touch of organic raw honey. It's bliss.
six // Jammies: Am I the only one who used to just grab whatever was comfortable when you're home not caring if they match or not and throw them on? Well I shopped around a little and bought a few lingerie type numbers from Forever 21 and H&M and started changing into those beauties as soon as I'm home. It's like you're getting ready for a party.... but a sleep party and you feel darling while doing so.
Out of everything mentioned above it's really not about drugging yourself or finding the only position you can fall asleep in. I see it more as taking the time to care for yourself and to pamper so you can feel better and stay vibrant during your days!
Does anyone else have tips they've learned to a better night of sleep?

Green Goodness
We've talked a few times about having my lifestyle change on the blog dealing with my migraines and finding meals for me that are all organic and all clean eating so I've finally learned my perfect mixture of ingredients for a delectable green smoothie. It took me a few tries and if it were really up to me, I'd alternate the fruits from a strawberry, banana to pineapple, blueberries and pear. I've shown the first option here excluding the almond milk I use. I buy all my items from Sprout's or Trader Joe's and stock up for the week on Saturdays.
Basically, it's the most simple of meals to make and it's something that makes you feel like a rock star. Kick it up with some extra spinach or sweeten it a bit with a touch of Stevia.
Enjoy, friends!

The Basics

The funny thing is I've always told myself I'd be a mom that's super cute and dressed to pleased even while managing a little one and here I am, taking time from work the weeks we have Drake and I've been going straight to what's comfortable. We've been in and out of the church office this week since he's been at VBS so it gives me some time to work while he's there but I don't seem to want to dress too stylish. It's jeans, a tee and a blazer. I'm clearly already failing in my "mom style" category.

Casual Pony : Hair Tutorial
Happy Friday, pretty friends! I've hit a point of being a little saturated on freebies for y'all so I'm taking another week break and will resume as normal next week. I hope you can understand it's been a little crazy this week getting back into work after being on vacation so my time and creativity juices are maxed out currently. I did make one for July 4th but wasn't planning to share but snag it now if you please, here.
Moving on, I've had some fun playing with pony tails on my longer growing hair and found one I keep going back to whether I'm hitting the church office for a few hours or out and about running errands. I thought I'd share it here! I've started with my hair styled with my 1 inch curls and this is second day//slept on hair. The only thing I've applied to it before is Batiste Dry Shampoo. I've had trouble finding a good dry shampoo cause my hair and scalp get so oily after 24 hours so I can't praise this enough; you will love it. It's also on sale at Ulta right now buy one get on 50% so stock up!
Whacha think? I'm sure this style can work with so many hair lengths and textures. I personally have thin hair but a lot of it and it tends to be pretty dry due to coloring. I've found this style can really last a few days especially if you're like me that can't go many without washing. This just might be your saving grace along with the Batiste Dry Shampoo. I know I'll be doing this most of the summer cause of the heat. You can see my favorite hair care items, here and other tutorials here.
Enjoy your weekend!

Fuchsia + Stripes
Talk about some tan legs, huh? I love what Mexico does for you when you spend hours in the sun! This skirt though, I love it. I want to wear it everyday and it's now a favorite of mine with blazers. Who knew?! Also, that cute little wrist band that resorts make you wear while your stay....it's obnoxious and I have a tan line on my arm there now. Talk about annoying.
Moving on though, I have this body that's not so great to dress with things falling right at the waist because my ass is so large it makes me look like a pear shape and I dislike that. I was so pleased upon getting this skirt because it's something that miraculously makes my worries diminish. And that, I like.

Styling + Peonies
Okay, it's beyond obvious peonies make everything better. Can we all agree? I think so. I ravaged every Trader Joe's possible this peony season and I couldn't help myself getting my photographer hat on and snapping some gorgeous pictures. They are just stunning! I can't even express how happy these few shots make me and mainly because they're soft, feminine and perfectly me. Any office or room deserves something as darling as these beautes.

Gimme Some Print
Good day my ladies! I am so excited to announce something special for you today I've been working on with my babe, Becky from Cella Jane. We are teaming up and collaborating each month with one fashion piece styled differently by each of us. This month we've chosen printed shorts and I'm excited for you to see how I've pulled a look together as well as the gorgeous, Becky!
So I'm a total cheese ball in these shorts today. Who could blame a girl though? I have my sweet Little Man taking the pictures (which turned out much better than when hubs does!), I have the pooch watching and wagging his tail, I just had 4 cups of coffee and I scored these shorts for $12.50 at Old Navy. That's winning in my book. You too?
Anyway, I'm sure I'm going to be asked about my tattoo here because everyone that's new around here or on my instagram ask so let's clear that up now. My arm reads "Wives, submit yourselves unto your husbands as you do unto the Lord." It's Ephesians 5:23 and my hubs has "Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church." Ephesians 5:25. They are our marriage tattoos....duh. It's my favorite tattoo I have and I am still obsessed with it's placement.
Happy day, friends!
