A Sweet Neighborhood Gift

We recently moved into a new neighborhood and were the first house to close so as neighbors are closing and moving in, I'm making little gift baskets to drop off for them. I'm doing a simple bottle of Thieves cleaner (already made), a dish towel, potted plant (the ones I ordered hadn't arrived yet so I found faux at target!) and homemade chocolate chip cookies in a cute bin or basket from Target.

So far, neighbors are loving them so here's the breakdown on what to buy to gift!

  • Thieves label download: http://bit.ly/2N6ft4l
  • Waterproof label paper to print: https://bit.ly/2OEM41m
  • Dish towels: https://bit.ly/37opZdW
  • Succulents: https://bit.ly/2Zp2EnY
  • Amber bottles: https://bit.ly/3dmFRBr

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup cold, salted butter (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp corn starch
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Beat together butter and sugars until combined. Add egg, egg yolk and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl and stir into butter mixture until fully incorporated. Add chocolate chips and stir together, roll all dough into 8 equal sized balls (a little bigger than a golf ball). Stack 2 cookie sheets so you don't burn the bottoms, bake at 400 for 9-11 minutes. Let cool for 30 mins then enjoy!

I hope you love this idea and can welcome some new neighbors to your neighborhood doing the same thing.

Natural Room Spray that Smells SO good!

Last week I shared this post on my wellness instagram and it was a huge hit. Some people don't always think about adding in a room or bathroom spray with their essential oils and while soft Springy ones that air on the side of floral are always nice, I'm a vanilla girl at heart. Somewhere around Christmas I made this and it's been a tried and true love in our home and all the bathrooms now.

You know, to rid the stank. ;)

We're making this with a 16oz glass bottle in mind so adjust your ratios if you're using bigger or smaller containers for storing and putting around your home.

16oz glass spray bottle⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/4 cup witch hazel⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4 teaspoons clear vanilla extract⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
20 drops cinnamon bark⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
15 drops orange⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
10 drops clove⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Directions: Top with distilled water + shake!

Here is a list of all my favorite oil goodies from Amazon and I've linked a few below. Think about these as your Essential Oil Tool Kit so if you're already using them or just jumping in and need to grab some things to be successful, this is your list!

DIY Bath Bombs

Bath bombs! I made these and totally thought of my mama because she loves bath bombs and she loves Rose! I used Release, Rose and Grapefruit for these and they smell so so so good. Drake smelt them last night and asked to take a bath over a shower and when he got out he couldn't stop raving about how good they were and how his skin was soft and smooth like lotion but without lotion.

Here's your recipe to make these on your own at home:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 2 tablespoons epsom salt
  • 3 tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 4-6 drops essential oil of choice (I added 4 drops of each oil)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mix dry ingredients together thoroughly, add melted coconut oil, water and EO mix together. I used my hands at this steps because the consistency is crumbly. Pack mixture into molds tightly, transfer to a baking sheet and let sit 6-8 hours! I added dried flowers in the molds before putting in the mixture so when we popped them out they had something extra special!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Can you say perfect Mother’s Day gift?! We’re doing another batch this week for the girls using food coloring and edible glitter. We’re calling them our unicorn bombs and using lavender and stress away in them!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Who’s DIY-ing this fun recipe?!

Essential Oils + Sleep

eye mask - Madly Wish | oils - Young Living | devotional - Jesus Calling | tray - At Home | diffuser - Young Living

When I ask people the area of life they're looking for support in from oils, 9/10 times the response is with sleep. It's pretty common in our world today sleep has taken a back burner and people don't make it a priority as much as they should. Evenings are spent dug into phones, TV's or tablets versus winding down without the blue lights stimulating their brains and in turn, keeping them up later or hindering their sleep altogether.

I've been time really figuring out which oils are best for Andrew and I plus our kiddos for really tailoring our sleep experiences to get as much as we can to be happy and healthy functioning humans so over the time doing that, I've found some favorites I wanted to share with you today!

Lavender //

The tried and true, the one everyone knows about for it's calming and grounding vibes but it's a great one for sleep. If there is one oil to get for sleep, Lavender is it. We diffuse this in every bedroom at night and other oils with it but we will never be without it!

Vetiver //

So great for supporting deeper and more restful sleep overall so this oil is one I use right on our feet at bedtime for extra love and we diffuse this with Lavender

Roman Chamomile //

Do you hear often how people tend to opt for a hot tea before bed, typically being chamomile? It's because it's a great resource and tool for aiding your sleep each and every night so this oil is a ticket right to that, as well. I got this oil originally as a promo and completely fell in love!

Dream Catcher //

Yes, this is pricey but honestly paired with Vetiver and Lavender, I don't think I could say we get good sleep regularly. The blend just mentioned is the go-to for our master bedroom and it's one I start about 20 minutes before I'm ready to head in there and when I do, it's so soothing, calming, relaxing and totally sets the night for restfulness.

Tranquil //

A roll-on blend with Cedarwood, Lavender, and Roman Chamomile so it's exactly what you need to apply directly on your wrists, and behind ears to dose off to sleep peacefully.

Raven //

Not sleep related but I love this oil each and every night for applying on my chest to support my breathing. It's similar to a vicks so it's icy/hot, invigorating feel opens airways so nicely and really has become a staple in my night.

Thieves //

Last thing I always use is Thieves for all the immune support. Again, not sleep related but I'll do all I can to avoid feeling "blah" so this goes down my spine and on the bottoms of my feet every morning and night.

Tips

Stay away from TV, phones, tablets... etc and opt for a book or devotional. I try to spend my evenings away from those things overstimulating my brain so I can promote better sleep. As a mom of three, working from home and needing to be "on" and a self starter, that always helps me be more productive and efficient the next day after sleeping well!

Do you have any oils you love for sleep or nightly routines you find helpful for catching those zzz's?

Favorite Oil Swag

It's no lie if you following me on social media and the blog, you know oils have become a huge part of our lifestyle and household. I jumped into it for help with chronic pain and a teething baby and a year later, I'm hitting it hard with the business and, quite honestly, doing pretty darn well. I've made goals and hit rank after rank, I've built my team and have people jumping in linking arms with me on their journey to wellness, too. It's rewarding, empowering, and lifechanging.

I get questions all the time on what oil "swag" I love and use regularly outside the Starter Kit and Young Living, so here's a compilation of all those goodies! I also shop for the little roller decals on Etsy, the shop Flair and Festive. I hope this helps you!

Come oil with me and grab your kit, here.

Creating a Happy Home

Let's go back to November 2016. Hollyn was born early November and I felt like we were in the swing of things quickly and seamlessly. Andrew went to Colorado when she was a few days old to celebrate his Grandpa's birthday, I was at church within 4 days and we were out running errands, living life as our family of 5.

Fast forward to February time frame. I was working more often than I have before, still trying to get adequate sleep, while maintaining a solid marriage, social life, and commitment to our church family. I began feeling stretched thin and run down. I was having more rough days than good days and it was something I wasn't totally aware of.

April comes along and it clicked to me. Everything was moving in slow motion. I was tired, fatigued, not wanting to do anything or motivated to make changes. I was crying alone, not talking about my stress, anxiety or uncertainty of my mood. May is when I decided to reach out to my doctor. I started an antidepressant dosage, Zoloft, and started to see a positive light.

I'm not one who likes to be dependent on medication. While I fully believe it's something that really only masks a problem or causes more side effects, it was helping so I felt like I didn't have another avenue. So time went on, I was feeding my body a prescription daily to help feel better and that's that.

Come July, we were moving again (because that's what we do! lol) and while I've been a Young Living member for a handful of months to help combat Andrew's nerve pain and support achy gums for Hollyn with teething, I wasn't using my kit outside of things I already knew. The team I had joined offered a lot of resources through Facebook groups so I started reading. All things hormonal, all things lady related, and all things I could do to help combat PPD naturally.

I ordered a handful of oils outside of the starter kit and I saw changes happen... and quickly. It's like a switch was flipped and I saw a light. While I knew the oils worked because it was helping immensely with Andrew and with our kids, I wasn't a product of the product. I wasn't using them to their full potential. But I started to and changes were made and our home is almost completely chemical free now.

Chemical FREE.

Talk about empowering. Natural deodorant, non-toxic household cleaners, laundry detergent that isn't laced with synthetic fragrances or candles full of junk. None of it.

It's a freeing feeling watching my kids fill their diffusers each night to support restful sleep. I love seeing my son grab for an oil and apply it daily for immune support. It's awesome watching my husband's hand feel better through applying oils, and personally, helping me find happiness outside of a pill and regulating my cycle.

EMPOWERING.

These were our big changes of 2017 and while it's a project we're working on throughout 2018, as well, I want to invite you to make those changes. I want to walk alongside you getting your home free of toxins only doing harm. It really hit home to me when my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer. Did you know a leading cause for breast cancer is from aluminum which is found in deodorant? Or better yet, have you heard of the app Think Dirty? Download it and scan your products you use daily, then come talk to me.

COME OIL WITH ME.
