I am so excited to officially share our sweet baby is a GIRL! Truthfully, Andrew and I both thought she was a little lady after our 12 week appointment so when it was confirmed at 16 weeks we were very excited! Neither of us had a preference, just a healthy baby but Drake had been super vocal he wanted a boy. I was so concerned about telling him but he was totally excited and has been rubbing the bump saying "baby girl!" over and over. That's a good sign, right? ;)

What's the babes name? We were a little unsure if we wanted to share her name now or when she is born but honestly, we don't really care what people say about it because it's so special to us so here it is... Emery Odessa Kinch. Emery is something my husband mentioned after we brainstormed names a while back and it's his favorite Christian band. It was so similar to something I liked so I knew it would be perfect for us. Odessa was my grandma's middle name who died in 2007 and I swore when that happened, I'd be naming my little girl after her. I wish her and my grandpa were here to experience this with us but I'm so excited Emery will be carrying on her name and honoring her.

I have to be honest after our ups and downs when I had my arm implant, I think that was God telling us it was time to start trying for our family to expand and it wasn't long after that we did. It wasn't an easy road because it took us a lot longer than we thought it would but after putting our trust in Him we knew it would be the right time. It's now even more surreal knowing it's a sweet baby girl and in just a few short months, she will be in my arms, Andrew's arms and Drake's as part of our family. We are all still beyond elated we have this miracle on the way. I've already been shopping here and there for some goodies and scored her diaper bag from the surprise Kate Spade sale happening now!

As of right now, we are just over 17 weeks, only gained 6 pounds and at my appointment this morning she was moving around like crazy. The nausea is still raging but that's nothing Zofran can't fix. The nursery has been started, a crib and dresser were purchased (thanks mom & dad!) so altogether, we are feeling good and calm with the way things are panning out. We thank you all for your love and prayers while you follow our journey and send lots of love and hugs right back at you!

I also wanted to extend a huge thank you to Amina from Studio Mucci for our gorgeous custom tassel garland! I will be back tomorrow with some more about how to make your own and how she and I worked together on this project that was so dear to my heart!

Coming in October

Andrew and I are elated to share our prayers have been answered after many months and we will be welcoming our sweet B A B Y   K I N C H this October! Big brother, Drake, is over the moon with excitement and can't stop talking about the baby and touching my growing belly (note: the pic above is exaggerated for fun- I'm only just showing). We are 8 weeks along and know the risk of sharing this soon but we want to celebrate this new life and joy God is bringing to our home. We trust Him and pray all goes well with a happy and healthy baby. We have always said how blessed we are and feel even more so after God has chosen us for this miracle.

For a little background, we found out at 3 weeks along and it was right after I returned from a trip to NY. I had spent month after month taking pregnancy tests praying for that positive result so it was time I had finally given up my worries and given it all the the Lord; you might remember that with this post. Little did I know, the Lord already had been working on our prayers. It was the next day I took a home pregnancy test and all our hopes and dreams of a family were confirmed. It has been rough with sickness which I'm sure you can tell but this is when I can fully explain why there hasn't been much activity on the blog because I'm too busy vomiting or sleeping.... #truth. I am happy to say I've gotten some meds to help so I hope to get my butt in gear again.

We are just so thankful to be blessed in this magnitude and thank you all for following our journey. I don't intend the blog to change in style as I already have doses of life and family but yes, you can expect my instagram to go crazy with baby related goodies. Sorry in advance, friends!

A Bump.

This is a post I write and I'm not stopping until it's all out.

Mid March Andrew and I sat down and talked about long term family goals and when we'd like to expand. We landed on a couple years from now so we have all our debt paid off and we are financially stable and set up for building our home with kiddos.

I have been on the pill in the past and I've always had extreme side effects causing me to terminate my use and we've used alternative methods of contraception. That was something Andrew and I were okay with. I'll be honest though, it's not so special in the middle of an intimate moment needing to break it up to make sure we're protected. It was bit of a hassle and it started wearing at my heart.

I started researching other methods of birth control. I landed on the thought of an IUD and that seemed promising to me. I booked an appointment with my OBGYN for April 4th excited to get the simple procedure done and move on with the comfort of 5 years being protected and we had the option to cut that short if we chose to. Monday April 1, I contacted my OBGYN to confirm my insurance would be covering the cost of the procedure, what I got in response was something I wasn't prepared for.

I have something called Thin Endometrial Lining. To sum that up, it means the lining of my uterus is thin and can't sustain an IUD and possibly a full term pregnancy. To put it lightly, I felt like I was punched in the stomach. This was determined on previous testing my doctor had done so when she heard about the possibility of an IUD she knew it wouldn't be an effective route for me.

I have since then regrouped, gained some perspective on what this means and I've prayed. A lot. This doesn't mean I 100% can't carry a child. This doesn't mean I'm infertile. This is simply something I've learned about my body and it's something I'll continue to pray about until Andrew and I feel it's the right time to expand. Because of this realization, I plan to still have my appointment on Thursday the 4th and I plan to talk options of contraception with my doctor. I plan to get educated about this bump in the road and I plan to put all my faith in God and in grace as we embark on a few more years a family of three. I am confident this is all apart of God's plan and I can say I have much less worry than I did first finding this out. That's not to say I'm still concerned and thinking the worst, but we will take one day at a time and we will embrace everything we're dealt with.

Comments turned off today.

I'm sick.

Hi.

My name is Aubrey.

And I have baby fever.

Big time.

This is so unlike me, but maybe since we we're around our sweet niece and goddaughter this weekend, it has me day dreaming about a Little Kinch. It makes me miss my Elle too. I'm not to sure but I better take it easy today and get over this fever.

It could be very, very dangerous.

A few more years

There are days I'm dying to expand. Days all my thoughts are consumed with baby and what it will be like having a mini Andrew running around. Drake is no longer "mini". He's growing up too quickly and it breaks my heart. I want to grab him and hold tight erasing the last few years taking him back to the innocent toddler days. But I can't. That's what happens.

Life.

Life is crazy and ongoing. You are never promised tomorrow or promised happiness. You create your own happiness, create your memories and small moments of gratitude and moments to cherish. They come so sparingly when working and always having a million things to do. You're challenged to take two days out of your month to have a night out with friends, or a date night with your husband or even a pool day with the family. Those moments are so hard to pencil in. And with a baby?? Don't even think about it for quite some time.

This weekend we're going up to the cabin with our greatest friends, David and Holly, and we cannot wait. We've been looking forward to this get-a-way since before it was even planned. Those two keep us sane and grounded and remind us daily that life is all about enjoying it. They remind us to slow down, smell the air and hug a littttttle tighter. They are a couple we've planned out many years with.

So babies? Although they consume my heart and mind frequently, and Andrew's too, that's just not in our cards in the next few years. We're embracing life and all the random last minute nights out, all the BBQ's that last until 3AM, all the game nights that included much tooooo much alcohol and all those sweet blissful moments of freedom.

Because when we do welcome our first Little together, I will take all those nights out in exchange for  just a cuddle with the life I'm responsible for. Wouldn't any parent?

baby kinch Kinch love story

Nope, I'm not ready for a baby.

Andrew and I married October 1, 2010.
I was ready for a baby that night.

The first 6 months of our marriage it was constant talking about when we could have babies.
I was a nanny, loving it and ready for my own.
I had a step-son and wanted him to share love of a sibling.
I was ready to be a mom and wife to my family.
We decided we would evaluate where we were financially, spiritually, physically, emotionally 2 years into our marriage and consider that being the time to expand.

Here we are 1.5 years into our marriage and we are NOT expanding our home for a while.
We get asked the question all the time.
"So when will you guys have kids?"

Our answer?
We will evaluate where we are in another few years.
We still feel like newly weds; we're still learning and developing our relationship together.
We are the couple that wants to enjoy the little moments in front of us.
We want to travel.
We want to go out for Happy Hour.
We want to sleep in every chance we have.

I said on Twitter a few days back--
"It's safe to say my husband has a firm grip on my heart; love grows some deep roots!"
I am excited to see those roots grow deeper in our relationship before we throw more chaos into the mix.

We find it hard enough now finding a sitter for our dog so what's it going to be like when we have our own child together and needing to recreate our lifestyle?

We look forward to building our family together.
We are anxious to see the relationship Drake will have with a silbling.
We know God will bless us with our own miracle when the timing is right.
When the timing is meant to be.

I truly believe no one can be completely ready to welcome a little one into the world.
You can never be fully stable in your life and ready.
At least I know I'll never be!
[you're lying if you think you are 100% ready to take someones life into your hands(!!)]

You don't know what it'll be like having sleepless nights.
You don't know the stress financially you'll be taking on.
You don't know the amount of responsibility that comes tied in a neat bow around your babies little life.
But whenever you're blessed with that milestone-- it'll be right.

It'll be in God's timing and he will be there to provide strength and reassurance throughout the challenges.

Right now Andrew and I enjoy being parents to a 6 year old.
We are embracing being an Uncle and Aunt.
We are excited for what our future brings....in a few years that is.
Or more.
:)
