Drake's Birthday: Pirates!
I still can't wrap my head around Little Man growing up so quickly. He's 7. Like seven years old. That's not a little kid anymore. He's becoming a little guy.... a little man. Wow. What a crazy thought and even more crazy thinking this year has been the most impactful for him and I with our relationship.
In the past I haven't been one to step on his mom's toes with party planning and what was going to happen but this year she reached out to me asking to bake the cupcakes and help set-up. I was very excited to say the least but I also feel the relationship with her has taken strides this past year. I have always spoken highly of her and the great mother she is to Drake so I felt so honored she asked me to take part in the "mother role" with his party.
Pirates it was.... arrrrr!
But why's the rum gone?
Kidding. But we had a great time brainstorming and planning this little shindig. I made some printables to top his cupcakes and cupcake wrappers so they were (in my opinion) Pinterest worthy.
In a nutshell, this was our day together:
Great time with friends and family celebrating Little Man's seven years God has blessed us with. The best part was him spending the night Friday so he woke up Saturday on his birthday with Andrew and I which always includes some great morning cuddles.
Such bliss and contentment I tell ya. He's my favorite and I can't thank God enough for bringing him into my life.

Drake
happy birthday, my little man.
Today is your day my sweet boy and it warms my heart watching over this past year how close we've grown. Friday night was such a testimony of where our love has grown to. I picked you up from Grandma and was a crying, hot mess with a migraine. You came straight to me, grabbed me close and told me you missed me. Oh, the tears. More and more tears.
I've watched you grow from your toddler stage into a clever little man. I've been there starting the chapters of life with school. I've seen you become so intelligent yet so carefree. You bring joy into my life in ways I can't describe.
I will always say how blessed I have been being able to accept you as a son but I feel even more blessed you've accepted me as your mom. Drake, if I could only help you wrap your head around how much that means to me now, I would. But let's take these next short years of your childhood and embrace them together.
I promise to never treat you differently than your future siblings. I promise to always love you unconditionally. I promise to support, encourage and only uplift you. I vow to spend all our time together enjoy the small moments God blesses us with. I promise to be a light into your life that hopefully shows you guidance. And I promise to always be an ear for anything you might need to say.
Happy 7th birthday, my little man.
I love you to the moon and back.

looking back.
It's been a week of looking back at everything we've been through, everything we've accomplished, everything we've made memories doing. I've been digging around my pictures and found our honeymoon folder and buried myself in those moments captured in still form. I try to remember back to each moment perfectly and with the pictures, I remember how blissful that week was away from life just enjoying our fresh days of being newly married loves.
We spent 7 days in paradise in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at Barcelo. The resort was perfect for what we wanted, all inclusive with a small beach, 2 huge pools and room service. We were famous for getting room service at the latest hours of the night and we look back now laughing every time we eat a club sandwich cause that was the meal of choice. Nightly. And it was so delicious.
Holy blonde hair, huh?! What can I say? Hubs loved his blonde bride. I can't say he'd loved me being my heaviest at our wedding but I do know he embraced those pounds with his strong arms and I'm so thankful for that. He's been my biggest fan in my journey of shedding those "wedding planning pounds" and I'm so confident having him by my side as I deal with my insecurities.
After seeing where we were then and comparing to where we are now, we each have zero regrets. We love like it's our last day together and are constantly encouraging one another. We were best friends then and still are now. We learn new things daily about our marriage and how we can grow stronger and closer and we take each day one step at a time, focusing on God being the center of all our days.
Some friends and family ask us often how married life is. They ask how we are handling fighting and how we deal with stressful schedules. We're asked how have we built our life and deal with the everyday challenges. We always answer the same. Married life is great-- we have the best time together, we're the closest of friends and love each other so much. We look so forward to building more years like the ones we've already experienced together.
We're laughed at. People think we're crazy and lying. They think all marriages and relationship are struggling and dealing with challenges. We feel blessed we can confidently say we've stood strong only uplifting each other during our few years together. We stand firm saying we will always be each other's biggest supporter and we will only honor the vows we spoke to many witnesses 2 years ago.
Marriage is an eternal bond. It's not only when you feel like it or for playing house. It's to commit yourself to one being for all your days. To embrace them and their weaknesses with your whole heart. To spend your life loving another and building moments so precious you can look back on when your old and gray. And when that time comes that Andrew and I are old and gray [hopefully with a wrap around porch, some creaky rocking chairs and sweet tea (!!)] we will look back at all those moments and again stand firm knowing we put God first and our marriage bloomed beautifully by His grace.
DIY
glittttterrrrr.
I love glitter.
Gold glitter!
What girl doesn't love glitter?
I saw on Pinterest (big surprise) a little DIY on how to glitterize your Starbucks tumbler. I saw it, fell in love and knew it would be my next adventure!
I'm a hardcore water drinker during the day so I could completely justify spending the money on a new Starbs tumbler ($10), adhesive spray ($5.99 but I used a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby) and gold glitter ($1.50 at Hobby Lobby). Total cost roughly $15 and it's something I can touch up if water happens to get in the double cup.
I just had to share today cause it's too dang cute not to blog about. I didn't take any pictures of the process but you can find a tutorial, HERE.
Who else is jumping on this glitter train?!

two years.
Today we celebrate our love together. Today we embrace the many years we have to come. Today is all about thinking over the memories we've made these first two years. Today is for holding on a little tighter cause we've made it one step closer to forever. Today is about honoring the vows we promised each other two years ago.
Today my hearts beats faster and slower seeing him. Today I cry because I'm so happy who God has blessed me with. Today he is the man I look to for comfort and stability. Today waking up next to him brings a warming smile to my face.
Today I'm a hot mess knowing just a few short years ago I was still a child but today I'm a woman firmly rooted by my husbands love. Today I'm humbled that my love for him only grows deeper by the minute.
Today I look to God thanking him for my best friend. Today I pray a little prayer asking for guidance in our next year. Today I look forward to building more memories. Today I love my husband more than I did yesterday and less than I will tomorrow.
And today I call him my husband of two years.
