Downtown

It's the last week of school for Drake so this past weekend we enjoyed it as a little "vacation" before it actually becoming summer vacation. We went to downtown Glendale where Glendale Glitters is held every year at Christmas if you're local and familiar with it. They have the sweetest little shops and it's perfect for a little outing.

Little fun fact, my mom used to own one of those shops when I was in middle school/high school called Lil Miss Sweetpea's. I was called Sweetpea growing up so it was a special thing for her and I to do together for a few years before we closed it. Ideally, it would be so fun if we could open another one now that I'm older but those are big dreams for years down the road.

Our Weekend

PROMOTION WEEK // It was promotion week at church for Drake so he went from the 3rd grade class to 4th! That's a huge deal at our church and he was so excited to switch classrooms and enjoy some new friends. CCV also sent the kids home with punching balloons which is equally cool and irritating for us parents who have kids that wouldn't put it down all of Sunday then... sigh.

ALMOST CRAWLER // Emery is soooo close to crawling forward. She has the backwards thing down and loves to sit up on all fours, rocking back and forth. It's such a cute thing to watch her learn but I find it so funny she's not sitting on her own yet but is about to crawl. But whatever, all in your time baby girl!

MAMAROO NAPS // It's rare we utilize this for naps but for some reason, she wasn't having a crib nap yesterday. I needed to shower so I put her in her Roo, threw on Mumford & Sons on Pandora in the bathroom and showered and peeked through the shower curtain at this little angel snoozing. It was darling and she stayed the way all while I blow dried my hair and did my makeup! #momwin

BIRTHDAY // My nephew turned 7 last week so we celebrated his birthday party on Saturday which meant there were toys everywhere. It was the typical eyeing the ground with every step because you didn't want a lego imprinted into your foot.

I also shopped a little for my growing girl and purchased:
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
and this phone case for myself!

How was your weekend?

A Skincare Win

H A P P Y    F R I D A Y !

Recently, I've been getting questions on my skincare routine and I've been using the same product since February 2014 and I doubt I'll ever switch. I've had unruly, acne prone skin all my life that's combination and I always had a hard time finding something that would combat the oil while also moisturizing the dry spots. The Saturation line by Enza came to the rescue when I was newly pregnant and it was amazing throughout my whole pregnancy and the last 7 months postpartum. I know I've shared it a couple times on the blog already but I wanted to reiterate this product is something I stand behind fully.

I did add in the Tri-Pedtide Cell Activator about 2 months ago which is supposed to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles and it's been so lovely on my skin! In general, I've noticed it being more smooth and my complexion is more clear. Not sure if it's that product alone but whatever it's doing, I like it!

Enza has pulled together my favorites in a bundle so you can save so if you're like me and want to give it a try, you can shop it here. I hope that gives a little insight to my skin and how I maintain it- as for makeup, I don't wear much these days but when I do I use Tarte BB Cream which has also been awesome! I'll list below my makeup favorite to shop easily.

Choosing a Convertible Car Seat

I mentioned back here we switched Emery over to a new convertible car seat after I felt she was becoming a little squished in her infant seat so I wanted to share my top choices with you! We were using the Maxi-Cosi Mico AP infant seat (in Treasured Green) for her which we totally love but her sweet little thighs kept getting more delicious and I felt like it was time to give her a little more wiggle room to spread out when in the car. Ironically, the day we changed her seat, she became a car lover and now passes out every time we're out and about. This didn't happen with her other seat the final few weeks we used it so I'm convinced she was ready for a bit more space.

I knew I wanted to stay with Maxi-Cosi again because the product has amazing quality, safety, comfort and style so it's checked off all the most important things when looking for functionality with a car seat. They recently launched their Pria 85 and although I like it, it seems to be more for the 12mo+ stage because of where the weight starts and stops and knowing my 9 year old is in a booster still and only 48lbs, I knew we'd never need the ability to go up to 85 pounds. We also looked at the Pria 70 which was a top contender but again didn't quite fit the bill because of the size and it seems to be bulky to me. I did love all the color options with this though so if space wasn't an issue, I think we would've selected this one. Our winner was the Vello 65 because it was more narrow, has the ability to remove pads for easy washing, the cup holders are also removable as they simply snap in place and the seat is just seriously cushy. I felt like it would be the best option for her to grow with over time and something we can use until she's out of a car seat.

Like I said, we're loving it so far and I think Emery coulnd't be happier! She's all about it and snuggles right in place and snoozes every time. We hoard pacifiers and Sophie in her cup holders... because a mama needs her survival means if a meltdown were to happen! ;)

4 Generations

When I was 3, the 4 generations of girls on my mom's side of the family had a picture taken to cherish that time and it's hung in my Gam Gam's house now. This past weekend we had the new set of 4 generations all together so we had to snap another picture to look back on this time when Emery had just joined us. I'm so glad we took this and I can't wait to hang it in our new home because it really is a darling picture encompassing great relationships between us all. Not to mention, my mom and Gam Gam were going gaga over Emery the whole evening... it was so sweet!

Zoo Date

Friday was amazing weather in PHX at 75 degrees as it's been in the low 100's so Courtney and I got the girls together for the day and went to the PHX Zoo. I haven't been in almost 5 years so it was fun to walk around again and it was a lot fun to experience it with Emery. I know she's so young that it was just a little outing where her and mama snuggled in her Solly but I got a few pictures to cherish the first time she went to the zoo.

Mia stole Emery's stroller when I wrapped her to cuddle... it was priceless!

Desktop Freebie : Summer Vibes

Remember that time I used to share Friday Freebies EVERY FRIDAY. Whew- that was a lot of pre-planning and creative juices I just don't seem to have lately with my mom brain. However, I do miss sharing little goodies for you to snag so my goal (don't hold me to it because.... life) is to share once a month. I'm not sure if I'll rotate out desktop designs with iPhone or iPad quite yet but we shall see. Do you all have a preference? Do tell!

The Unexpected

Yesterday was one of those days I had a mile long list of things to do and banking on Emery having a good week thus far, I thought we could totally have a productive Wednesday. She had other plans. It started with a 1:30am wake up call followed but a couple more hours of sleep but then awake for the day at 5:45am. This has become a weird "normal" for her and I'm still adjusting so I had pounded 3 cups of coffee by nap time at 8am so I could get some work tackled while she slept. But she didn't want to sleep without mama. So we snuggled in my bed and she zonked for 3 hours! I was able to sneak away after the first hour which was nice but again, when she woke up, she was all cuddly and whiny.

Fast forward an hour and she began vomiting and blowing out diapers left and right so again, we snuggled and hydrated and laid in mama's bed watching Mickey. Slowly but surely she came around and was a snuggly babe to her blanket instead of me but the whole day made me realize it's not about the amount of things I get done and accomplished in a day- it's about Emery and did she feel loved and secure and comforted that day? If yes, it was a successful day.
